So the Cabby was stolen
The Cabby was stolen from our house. I went to use it Saturday morning and it was not where it should have been. Disaster.
Filed a Police report, but there's not much they can do. Filed a claim on our home contents insurance, which was knocked back. Posted to the incredibly depressing Stolen Bikes SA Facebook Group, and on Bike Vault. Have been watching Marketplace and Gumtree.
This is incredibly frustrating because, at least in my mind, this was a really kind of stupid bike to steal. It's unique, both the Cabby specifically and cargo bikes in general, that it's unlikely to be sellable. And well, people who like cargo bikes tend to be into similar things. The bike was locked with the frame lock, which probably means the frame got damaged removing the lock. I still have the keys, battery charger, spare parts, all the accessories (rain covers, baby capsule adapters, etc). I just don't know what someone would do with a stolen Cabby in Adelaide.
What's worse though is the cargo bike really quickly integrated itself into our lifestyle. Quick trip to Bunnings, groceries, childcare, the bottlo, playgrounds, work, everywere. The day before it was stolen I rode to childcare dropoff, then continued into the city for work, then back for pickup and home - an easy 40km day.
The experiment was turning out to be a huge success, and now we're back to square one.
